Problem:
Patients typically had access to plenty of diagnostic labs nearby but no easy way to compare what the same test would actually cost across them — pricing for routine tests like a CBC or lipid profile could vary significantly between labs just streets apart, with no single place to check before booking. That left people either overpaying at whichever lab they happened to know, or spending time calling around individually to compare prices, with no structured way to also factor in things like lab accreditation, ratings, or whether home sample collection was available.
Solution:
Latent built Bachat as a full price-comparison-to-booking mobile app backed by a lab-facing backend:
- Lab onboarding & test catalog — a backend allowing diagnostic labs to register and list their available tests, packages, and pricing.
- Test & location-based search — users select the tests or categories they need (Haematology, Biochemistry, Clinical Pathology, and more) and their location to see a list of nearby labs.
- Sort & filter — results sortable by combined price, ratings, or distance, and filterable by NABL accreditation and home-visit availability — so cost is never the only lever users can pull.
- Lab detail & itemized pricing — a lab profile page with ratings and reviews and per-test pricing broken down by category, plus bundled health packages (e.g. Silver/Gold/Platinum tiers) with their own itemized inclusions.
- End-to-end booking — a real booking flow, not just an enquiry: personal details, a map-based address entry, a choice between home visit or in-person visit, an itemized cost summary and total, and a booking confirmation.
- Post-service ratings & reviews — users rate and review their experience after a booking, feeding back into the ratings labs are ranked and filtered by.
Impact:
Bachat turned diagnostic test shopping from a manual, opaque process into a transparent, comparison-driven one: users could see real pricing across nearby labs before committing, factor in accreditation and home-visit convenience alongside cost, and book directly in the app rather than calling around. Labs listed on the platform gained real visibility and a direct booking channel to price-conscious patients, turning transparency into a genuine acquisition channel rather than a threat to their business.
